Upload / Download reveals the new roles adopted by the photographic image in artistic practices after the advent of the Internet. In fact, the reverberations that result from this connection between the digital and physical world can no longer be undone.
The projects presented make use of the Internet and social media to question the photographic image produced in this era. The intention is to take a look at the different ways in which the pieces gain physical and virtual existence, contrasting the plethora of procedures available and their adequacy to the purpose of each work.
In Upload the Internet is conceived of as a platform to be developed, as an environment to be inhabited, which ultimately confers the images their meaning.
Download, on the other hand, is built around the physical realization of photographic images extracted from the web. It is precisely in this artistic gesture, in the process of transporting these images to the physical realm, where they find the purpose of their own conceptualisation.
